OSHA 1910.179 Inspections
Federal OSHA standards require that all overhead cranes have ‘Frequent’ and ‘Periodic’ inspections performed to maintain a safe work environment.
Frequent inspections are performed on a daily basis, typically by the operator, and on a monthly basis with recorded documentation of the monthly inspection.
Periodic inspections are to be performed annually by a professional crane inspector in the case of normal use, and quarterly or even monthly in the case of severe or heavy use cranes.
Load tests are also required when a new crane is put into service as well as when any major modifications or repairs have taken place.
What We Offer
At DeMatt Industrial we are glad to offer a wide range of inspection services, anywhere from a typical monthly inspection to an in-depth annual program. Our inspectors have all had years of experience in the industry and are well versed in the standards outlined in OSHA 1910.179. We utilize a third party inspection software to create clean, easy-to-follow reports on all your assets as well as any deficiencies that may be found during the inspection.
Monthly Inspections
Our trained inspectors will perform monthly hook, rope, chain and operational inspections on all overhead lifting devices and keep documented records, freeing up valuable in-house maintenance time.
Annual Inspections
These are the most in-depth inspection typically performed once a year by our qualified professionals. Using man lifts and other means of access, we will inspect structural, mechanical and electrical components of your overhead cranes as well as any preventative maintenance that you require.
Load Testing
This is required after all new installs and major repairs. We can accommodate almost any capacity from small 250 lb jibs to massive 125 Ton double girders using our partners in the weight and scale industries.
